Mitch then pulled his pad off the desk and wrote out a full prescription for lithium. "It's a standard, midlevel repressant," Tojian said. "For aggression."
"What about the game tomorrow night?"
"It's important that he show up even if he spends it on the bench. I'll watch him. If he seems okay, I'll put him in. It won't dull his reflexes. But he should be there, so he won't feel he's some kind of pariah."
Calvin nodded. On the way out he asked, "Could his condition be . . . environmental?"
Mitch eyed him. "If you're still worried about lawn chemicals, I doubt it."
"I mean something in the air or water?"
"Why do you ask?"
Calvin shook his head to say it was nothing.
"If you're concerned, you can have your soil and water tested."
"We did, and it turned up negative."
"Well, there you are."
"Right. There we are."
